Want to have first access
to the exhibition?

To start the ‘Art for Mito’ sale in style, we are hosting a special launch event to celebrate both the artists and the mito community.  This will offer attendees the chance to meet some of the artists and have the first opportunity to purchase their displayed works.  Matthew Evans, one of our featured artists, will be showcasing the creation of a piece of art throughout the evening, giving guests the chance to watch the art piece unfold in real time. The completed artwork will be the prize in the evening’s special draw, offering attendees the opportunity to win this work. Numbers are limited so please book your tickets as soon as possible. All guests will be welcomed by a glass of fizz on arrival!

MEET THE ARTISTS

Presenting our artists who are personally affected by mito.

Faye Wylie Art for Mito

Faye Wylie, sadly lost to mitochondrial disease in June this year, was a keen and talented amateur artist.  Faye used art throughout her mito journey as a coping mechanism, even as her sight failed due to her illness.  Faye co-founded the Leigh Network charity who we are honoured to support through this event.

Since Paul Jorden’s diagnosis, art has not only been a tool to raise funds for mitochondrial research, but to bring joy to others.  Paul has recently joined our My Mito Mission family, with Paul’s Mito Mission.  He has also supported Leigh Network, The Lily Foundation and Muscular Dystrophy UK charities through his talents.

Triste Simonet-Shaw

Triste Simonet-Shaw, who volunteers at My Mito Mission HQ  as a researcher and photographer, enjoys a variety of mixed artworks including needle felting and painting.  Triste is an amateur artist and likes to work from her local studio in Halifax.  Triste finds art very theraputic in dealing with mito and its impact.

COLLECTIVE ART BY THE MITO COMMUNITY

On display at Art for Mito, will be our collective art piece, made by all of our missions. This piece, called “Together, We are Stronger” will be created as part of an activity at our My Mito Meet Up 2024 taking place in October this year. Additionally, last year’s Meet Up collective art piece—a quilt composed of squares created by our mission participants—will be proudly displayed.
