“What do (choose one option below) have in common? They could ALL benefit from mitochondrial research”
mito: is as in ‘my toe’ – with the emphasis on the ‘my’
mitochondria / mitochondrial: as in ‘mita-cond-ria / mita-cond-real’ i.e. the ‘o’ becomes much less pronounced, the ‘h’ is silent and the emphasis is on the ‘cond’. Very much like the pronunciation of ‘hypochondria’ (unfortunate connection!)
