Tower to Tower for Mito

Undaunted by the lockdown, the lovely Brooke Inglesfield has set herself the target to raise £500 for us through Emma’s Mito Mission. She’ll be (virtually) walking from Blackpool Tower to the Eiffel Tower in 90 days – a distance of 840 km, or 520 miles. Although she won’t be making the actual journey, Brooke will definitely be doing the miles and making a video diary so everyone can follow her progress.

Powering awareness – Coronation Street!

Popular top soap Coronation Street is to feature a big new story line which will see one of its characters diagnosed with mitochondrial disease.

Mito is to be brought to the attention of Corrie’s 6 million viewers by Leanne Battersby and Steve MacDonald receiving the news that their son Oliver has the life-limiting condition.

What an incredible boost to give mitochondrial disease the recognition it needs and deserves. Thank you, Coronation Street!

Hug Bundles Bring Lockdown Smiles

What better way to put our tombola and raffle donations to good use during the pandemic than to parcel some up for families and adults impacted by mito? Over 30 ‘Hug Bundles’ were sent out taking treats to those looking an extended lockdown

This follows our first support project in November 2019 where we were delighted to contribute to the very first support weekend for adults with mitochondrial disease, organised and hosted by The Lily Foundation.

We will continue to bring additional support to as many people as we can.

Postponed Events

With a bumper year expected, it’s a huge disappointment to have to put all our planned activities and events on hold.  Safety comes first of course – and our thoughts are very much with those affected by mitochondrial disease who will need to shield throughout the coronavirus pandemic. Our charity will continue to support them as best we can.

You can be sure we’ll pick up our plans for some magical mito-awareness events as soon as it’s safe to do so!
